Farewell to Furnarchy

Furnarchy

Furnarchy History

In 2009, a website called Heroin Puppy went offline. That was the original website for the person who created Furanrchy. I contacted him, (he went by the moniker “Cluracan”) and after a bit of discussion he handed over all of the source files he had. This included a second project called DreamNova, and all of his development documentation. Since then, a developer named Eric (aka “Lothus Marque”) and I have been working on keeping Furnarchy running with the latest changes to the Furcadia client.

In that time, we have seen DEP take some of the best features and implement them in the base client. For a myriad of reasons, not the least of which includes the current environment of Furcadia, we have decided to end our work on Furnarchy.

The End?

This is not necessarily the end. We released the source for Furnarchy to GitHub. Any intrepid young developer with an interest in programming can go there and retrieve the source. We will continue to host the website, with the module and script developer documentation for the foreseeable future. Another year, at least. The forums will be set to “read only” at the end of April.

Thank You

I want to personally thank everyone who helped us, but there are too many names to mention. So, off the top of my head, thank you to: Manivo, Amfortas, Salias, l33tson, Bahamut, Lothus, Tape, Gerolkae, Koolpin, zSpon, 93705, Ceus, Shaun Dreclin, xPi, Blizz, Nijumi, Kragamore, Joantha, Doctor Zoidberg, and the Wisdom Tree pals we can never forget.

And, of course, thank you to Cluracan. Without his initial development, and a healthy dose of trust, we wouldn’t have been able to continue development.

It was a wild ride, and I appreciate the learning experience that Furnarchy brought. It will be missed.
